[00:09.740] I read a note my grandma wrote back in nineteen twenty-three.
[00:18.340] Grandpa kept it in his coat, and he showed it once to me. he said,
[00:28.150] \boy, you might not understand, but a long, long time ago,
[00:36.280] Grandma's daddy didn't like me none, but i loved your grandma so.\
[00:45.590] We had this crazy plan to meet and run away together.
[00:53.900] Get married in the first town we came to, and live forever.
[01:03.840] But nailed to the tree where we were supposed to meet, instead
[01:13.030] Of her, i found this letter, and this is what it said:
[01:20.960] If you get there before i do, don't give up on me.
[01:30.280] I'll meet you when my chores are through;
[01:35.030] I don't know how long i'll be.
[01:39.030] But i'm not gonna let you down, darling wait and see.
[01:48.040] And between now and then, till i see you again,
[01:53.290] I'll be loving you. love, me.
[02:07.100] I read those words just hours before my grandma passed away,
[02:15.080] In the doorway of a church where me and grandpa stopped to pray.
[02:24.960] I know i'd never him seen cry in all my fifteen years;
[02:33.510] But as he said these words to her, his eyes filled up with tears.
[02:43.230] If you get there before i do, don't give up on me.
[02:52.480] I'll meet you when my chores are through;
[02:56.550] I don't know how long i'll be.
[03:01.310] But i'm not gonna let you down, darling wait and see.
[03:10.240] And between now and then, till i see you again,
[03:15.680] I'll be loving you. love, me.
[03:24.180] Between now and then, till i see you again,
[03:28.680] I'll be loving you. love, me.
